SJÓMANNADAGURINN Á BÍLDUDAL
Laugardagur in Patreksfjörður (06/06)
We were really looking forward to enjoy a seamen festival in Iceland. We decided first to go to Patreksfjörður, one group hiking and the other hitchhiking. The hitchhike was much more efficient than the hike, though its clearly not just about efficiency, and we arrived on time to see the impressive battle over the sea in the harbour.

We came mostly to Patreksfjörður to support bands from Bíldudalur who were playing the night, so after a walk in the village we went to the square to listen a bit of icelandic music.

On the way home, hitchhiking again, we did appreciate the sunset on the Westfjords and the lack of darkness at 1am. After one hour waiting in the cold we finally found a car to go back. Thank you very much to the cars that stopped for us, see you on the road again.

Sunnudagur á Bíldudal (07/06)
We were very excited about what was going on in Bíldudalur on Sunday, to have the opportunity to share to the seamen festival with the people from this icelandic village. As if we were living here, we could participate to all the events of the day and so we were very well integrated since they are very nice with foreigners coming to discover Bíldudalur.
The day started with a rowing race, the SEEDS group versus the girls who taught us how to row (róa róa róa!!). We made the choice not to put picture of that due to the fact that we lost the race. Nevertheless we have picture of the exciting race women against men.

It was the warming up before the serious effort...
Then, both children and their parents had to take on different challenges:
- running with a lifesaver around your waist

- playing tug of war

- pulling a rope as faster as you can

- odd relay race where the participants had to hammer a nail while running through water obstacles

- pillow battle over the sea

- after eating a good icecream from Veitigastofan Vegamót, we enjoyed a really nice play which dealt with the village's history

Then, around 6pm we went on a boat to an unknown destination and a barbecue! It was a bit cold for us foreigners but we really enjoyed having a barbecue in a place like that, lost in the middle of nowhere.
It was very great seeing everybody cooking, gathering around the fire.

This was a very great weekend between Bíldudalur and Patrekfjörður!
Thank you for your hospitality
